Aaaaah office of emergise, how I do love you.
As they say on MTV cribs, this is where the magic happens – or is that the bedroom? Oh no silly, that’s the other magic, so naughty!! But so nice.
It’s on days like this that I feel so bloody lucky to be where I’m at today. It was 13 years ago that I started to work from home and manage my own time and I’d like to say I haven’t looked back, but Jesus Christ, at times I so have! Back in the beginning, I was a young 21 year old who had the freedom of the company car, the home office and the company mobile, and fuck me was that trouble!
Well actually the trouble started a year later when I realised I needed more, took the transfer to London and the party day’s took over baby! Suffice to say Mondays in bed with my mobile on my pillow, were an experience for sure, and I guess not the most productive way to start the week…fun though!! To this day, I’m amazed no-one found out! Well if they read this then they’ll know! Would I do it differently if I had the chance to do it again? – HELL NO! I spose the reason I never got fired was down to the all-nighters I used to put in – when I had to present proposals to my clients, presenting to them on no sleep then collapsing for a whole day – ah yeah them were the days. How the hell am I still alive?! Surely it shouldn’t be possible!
Now I know what you’re thinking. You’re amazed at the sheer genius of me right now and that’s understandable, I am a god(dess) after all, but you mustn’t let that faze you. You too can get by in life by the skin of your teeth – all you have to do is push the boundaries. LOL
Ok side track for a moment – “Skin of your teeth” where the hell did that come from? Let me find out. Found it!
“Skin of your teeth” Origin
The phrase first appears in English in the Geneva Bible, 1560, in Job 19:20, which provides a literal translation of the original Hebrew:
“I haue escaped with the skinne of my tethe.”
Teeth don’t have skin, of course, so the writer may have been alluding to the teeth’s surface or simply to a notional minute measure – something that might now be referred to, with less poetic imagery than the biblical version, as ‘as small as the hairs on a gnat’s bollock’.
Cool. Now it could be just me, but I don’t think I’ve ever used THAT expression before! “AS SMALL AS THE HAIRS ON A GNAT’S BOLLOCK”!!!! That’s even worse!!! So what does that mean? Am I some kind of traditional girl then or something?!! Who knows. Anyway digression too long, back to my point.
What was my point? LOL only kidding!
So pushing your boundaries – it’s true, life’s all about pushing your boundaries, taking yourself out of your comfort zone and doing something you’ve never done before. Life Susan Jeffers explains in her book Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway, what if you could never lose in life? What if every decision you made always had ‘goodies’ along the way, would that change the way you lived it? You bet it would and you bet it has for me.
No matter what happens I know it will always work out. So when the lifestyle, the properties and the holidays I had in my 20’s disappeared, I knew I had to lose them to learn how to cope. To know what it was like to have nothing, to be homeless, because that was me. That was me a mere two years ago…
I live to my extreme’s, I do things people tell me I can’t or shouldn’t do, and I love it!! I’m the black sheep; I’m the person walking the other way and I’m the one person who will turn up when you least expect it!!! Sure it doesn’t always work out as planned but that’s the whole point of the no-lose model – whatever happens, I’ve always won. It makes life even sweeter than it already is my friends, so what the hell are you waiting for?!!! Crack on and start living like you can never lose…
